A motivational vision board is a creative and personal collage of images, photographs, illustrations, and words that helps you visualize all the good things you will experience when you have achieved your goals.
Creating a vision board will help you to keep your goals in mind and motivate you to work towards the goals you have set so that you can transform your ambitions into actions. The important thing to remember when working on your motivational vision board is to be creative, make it personal and meaningful, and have fun.
Choose your “Canvas”. Make sure that it’s large enough (poster size is perfect) and sturdy enough. A recycled cardboard box, but you can use foam board or poster board or an actual piece of canvas.
Gather up your images. Use previously loved magazines and cut out the words, phrases, photos and images that represent your goals. (happiness, vacation, new car, etc.) Feel free to also include a photo of yourself. With each image that you select, ask yourself the following questions about each goal: How will you feel when you have achieved your goal? In what ways will your life change for the better when you have achieved this goal? How will you reward yourself when you have reached this goal? What will you gain from achieving this goal? In what ways will reaching this goal bring you closer to the kind of person that you want to be? Think about a time when you successfully reached a goal on the past, how did this make you feel? What emotions and physical sensations did you experience?
Get creative. Lay them out. Create your design. Some folks choose to group photos into themes, say for example: health, family, money, travel, hobby and or spirituality.
Put it all together and add your creative flare. Use glue (rubber cement and glue sticks work well). Be creative, feel free to add borders, a frame, stickers bling and or a photo of yourself.
Proudly display your vision board in your office or in a place that you can refer to it and scan it daily as a tool to help you visualize your goals.
Watch how over the course of the next few months and or year you will start to see your visions become a reality.
Take some time each day to study your vision board and visualize your successes as if you were living them out at that very moment. Spend a few minutes each day reflecting on it, especially when you feel that a boost in motivation is needed. Read the words aloud and visualize future achievement as if it were happening right now. As you look at your vision board, ask yourself: How will I feel when what I see in front of me becomes my reality?
